Clarence Millward was the son of Bertrand and Annie Millward, of Cradley, Staffordshire, he enlisted in the South Staffordshire Regiment and volunteered for airborne forces.

Gunner Millward successfully completed parachute training at RAF Ringway and was posted to 3 Airlanding Anti-Tank Battery, Royal Artillery, and took part in Operation Overlord (Normandy).

Gnr Millward was killed in action on 16 June 1944, aged 34, and was buried in Ranville War Cemetery, Calvados, France.
