George William Hunt was the son of John and Mary Ann Hunt, of Churchill, Oxfordshire, he enlisted into the Durham Light Infantry and volunteered for airborne forces.
Craftsman Hunt successfully completed glider training and was posted to Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, attached to 7th Battalion, The Parachute Regiment, and took part in Operation Overlord (Normandy).
Crfmn Hunt was killed in action on 6 June 1944, aged 21, and was given a field burial in the grounds of Grangues Chateau and re-interred to Ranville War Cemetery, Calvados, France, on 1 June 1945.
