Gunner John 'Jock' Bissett enlisted in the Royal Artillery on 10 June 1958 at Dumfries in Scotland.In 1960 he transferred to airborne forces and attended parachute training course 503, which ran at RAF Abingdon from February to April 1960.
He subsequently served with 33rd Parachute Light Regiment Royal Artillery, and its successor unit (7 PARA RHA) until April 1968.
