Dennis Deane-Daniels was the son of Frederick and Edith Deane-Daniels, of Berguliet Township, Heathfield. He enlisted in the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry and volunteered for airborne forces.

He successfully completed his training as a Glider Pilot and was posted to A Squadron, 17 Flight, 1st Wing, Glider Pilot Regiment and took part in Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).

Staff Sergeant Deane-Daniels was killed in action on 19 September 1944, aged 25, along with his Co-pilot Sgt Lewis Pattinson when they were strafed by a ME109 in a wood on the south-western edge of the Oosterbeek perimeter. They were given a field burial in the garden of Hotel Pietersberg and re-interred to Arnhem Oosterbeek War Cemetery on 6 September 1945.
