David Gammage was enlisted into the General Service Corps in January 1945, and volunteered for airborne forces, qualifying as a military parachutist at RAF Ringway in June1945 After posting to a reserve battalion he served with the 2nd Parachute Battalion until April 1946 and then HQ 1st Para Bde Defence Platoon from April 1946 to Jan 1948.
David was transferred to the Army Reserve in March 1948.
