Frederick Henry Hooper was the son of Willie and Eleanor Hooper, of Penarth, Glamorgan. He enlisted in the Royal Warwickshire Regiment and volunteered for airborne forces.

Corporal Hooper successfully completed his glider training, and was posted to B Company, 2nd (Airborne) Battalion, South Staffordshire Regiment and took part in operation Market Garden (Arnhem).

Cpl Hooper probably drowned on 26 September 1944, aged 22, and his body was washed up on the bank of the river Lek near Vreeswijk on 13 November 1944. He was buried at Vreeswijk Protestant Cemetery.
