Kenneth 'Geordie' Small served with 9th Parachute Squadron Royal Engineers prior to volunteering for Special Forces.After passing selection he served with D Squadron, 22 Special Air Service Regiment, and was later killed in action by mortar fire while serving on operations in Oman.

Lance Corporal Kenneth Small died on 19 September 1975, aged 31 years, and is now buried at St Martin's Churchyard, Hereford.
