Private James McGuiness Sweeney, son of Francis and Isabella Sweeney, of Paisley, Renrewshire, served with 7th (Airborne) Battalion, King's Own Scottish Borderers. He took part in the Battle of Arnhem, during Op Market Garden.Private Sweeney died of wounds on 19 October 1944, aged 33 years old. He is now buried at Oosterbeek War Cemetery, Arnhem.
