Arthur Fairfax Norman-Walker was the son of Col. J. Norman-Walker, of Sreatley, Berkshire. He was granted a commission and volunteered for Airborne forces.

Major Norman-Walker successfully completed glider training and was posted as Commanding Officer to 1 Light Battery, 1 Airlanding Light Regiment, Royal Artillery, and took part in Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).

Maj Norman-Walker was killed in action on 22 September 1944, aged 32, by an enemy shell whilst at the 1st Airlanding Brigade HQ, on the Hemelse Berg Estate. He was twice Mentioned in Despatches. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Groesbeek Memorial to the missing.
