Private David Burns was born in 1925 to John and Elizabeth Burns of Glasgow. 

Private Burns volunteered for The Parachute Regiment and served as part of the 5th (Scottish) Battalion. He took part in the Italian Campaign.

He died on 12 April 1944, aged 19. He is now buried at Cassino War Cemetery, Italy.
