Arthur John Smith served with the Royal Fusiliers prior to volunteering for airborne forces during World War II.He qualified as a military parachutist on course 119 which ran at RAF Ringway in June 1944 and was later posted to B Coy 13th Parachute Battalion as a reinforcement.
