William Eden, son of John and Mary Eden, of Ribbleton, Preston, Lancashire, enlisted into The Border Regiment and volunteered for airborne forces. He was a member of 15 Pln, C. Coy, 1^st Bn Borders on Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).

William Eden was also successfully jump trained at RAF Ringway on course 27. Which commenced 13 Sept 1942. He is listed as being a member of the Airlanding Brigade.

L/Cpl Eden died on 22 September 1944, aged 29. He is commemorated on the Groesbeek Memorial, for those with no known grave.
