Private John James Bennett, son of J. C. and Amy Bennett, of North Ormesby, Middlesbrough, Yorkshire, served with the Army Catering Corps.
He was attached to 12th (Yorkshire) Parachute Battalion (formerly 10th Bn, Green Howards, Yorkshire Regiment) and took part in the Normandy operation.
Private Bennett 19 August 1944, aged 31 years old. He is now buried at Putot-en-Auge Churchyard, Putot-en-Auge, near Caen, Normandy.
