Private Ceiriog Josue Henri Sebire, known as Jose, was son of Sydney Harold and Olwen Myrddin Sebire, and was born in South Wales. His mother was Welsh, while his father was from the French Channel Islands. The family moved to Holloway London when his father was ordained and accepted a parish appointment.Jose Sebire joined up as soon as he was old enough, alongside his cousin Alcwyn Thomas. Raised together as children, they treated each other as brothers, and continued to train together and both qualified to join the Parachute Regiment. Jose served with B Company, 9th (Essex) Parachute Battalion and took part in the D-Day landings to Normandy on 6 June 1944.

Private Sebire died on 24 July 1944, aged 20 years old. He is now buried at Ranville War Cemetery, Normandy.
