Private Gerald Henry Moss, son of Joseph and Margaret Ann Moss, of Breadsall, Derbyshire, served with 22nd Independent Parachute Company. He took part in the Ardennes campaign in the winter of 1944-5.

Gerald Moss died on 10 February 1945, a few weeks before his 23rd birthday. He was part of a Recce Unit, commanded by Major MG Dolden, exploring anti tank ditches and trenches near the Maas river bank by the 'Iron Works'. Gerald suffered severe wounds inflicted by an enemy mine in the trench works near the Iron Works. He died later of his wounds after being evacuated from the trench by boat. 

He is now buried at Venray War Cemetery, Limburg in Holland.

Two years previously Gerald had lost his brother, Vincent Edward Moss, whilst he was serving with The Royal Welch Fusiliers in Burma.
