Sergeant William Henry Ernest Steer, son of Bert and Sophia Steer, of Leatherhead, Surrey, served with 12th (Yorks) Parachute Battalion. He took part in the Normandy campaign.Sergeant Steer died on 4 July 1944, aged 23 years old. He is now buried at Ranville War Cemetery, Normandy.
