Private Thomas William Cameron Hunter, son of Robert Henry and Ann Cameron Hunter, of Blyth, Northumberland, served with 11 SAS which was soon renamed 1st Parachute Battalion.

Thomas was a member of S Coy, 6Pln. He successfully passed parachute jump instruction at RAF Ringway and took part on number 1 ADV Course. Thomas enlisted on 15 November 1940 with 50 Northants, before volunteering with the airborne forces. 

He took part in the North African campaign, during Op Torch. Private Hunter died on 5 February 1943, aged 26 years old. He is now commemorated on  Face 36, Memorial at Medjez-el-Bab War Cemetery, Tunisia.
