Charles W Hall enlisted on 12 October 1939. He was a member of 58 Search Light (SL) RA before volunteering for the airborne forces.
He was successfully jump trained at RAF Ringway on Course 20. This course consisted of 2 jumps from balloon and 5 from aircraft. It ran between 27 July and 3 August 1942. Charles was then posted to the 1st Parachute Bn, T Coy, 11 Pln.
Charles saw service with this unit in N. Africa and then with HQ Coy in Italy. During Op. Market Garden he was wounded in action, but it is believed he managed to withdraw across the Rhine.
On 11 August 1946, Charles joined the Reserves.
