Lance Corporal Leonard Howarth, son of Leonard and Harriet Howarth, of Salford, Lancashire, served with 22nd Independent (Pathfinders) Parachute Company. He took part in the D-Day landings to Normandy, during Op Overlord.

Lance Corporal Howarth died on 6 June 1944, aged 21 years old. He is now buried at Ranville War Cemetery, Normandy.
