Steve Eyton joined Junior Parachute Company prior to passing through Depot as a recruit.On completion of training he was posted to 2 PARA, later completing a residential tour in Northern Ireland and served in the Mortar Platoon, Support Company during the Falklands campaign.
He was one of four members of the platoon who suffered a broken ankle by holding the mortar base plates down with their feet in order to provide harassing fire on enemy positions while the battalion attacked Wireless Ridge.
Steve left the Army in 1985.
