Sergeant Charles Veitch Gilmour, husband of Sarah Lennox Gilmour, of Forehill, Ayr, served with 5 Platoon, A Company of 156 Parachute Battalion. He was a member of 156 Boxing team
He took part in the Battle of Arnhem, during Op Market Garden. Sergeant Gilmour died during the Battle between 19-25 September 1944, aged 30 years old. He is now buried at Oosterbeek War Cemetery, Arnhem.
