Corporal David Jones enlisted into The Wiltshire Regiment and volunteered for airborne forces at the formation of 1st Parachute Brigade in late 1941.He was posted to the 1st Parachute Battalion and completed a basic parachute course at RAF Ringway in November 1941. Cpl Jones also attended the first advanced parachute course run by the Parachute Training School for 1st Para Brigade in January 1942.
