William Charles Parsons was the son of George and Mary Ann Parsons, of Charlbury, Oxfordshire, he enlisted in the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry and volunteered for airborne forces.
Private Parsons successfully completed glider training and was posted to 2nd (Airborne) Battalion, Oxford and Bucks Light Infantry, and took part in Operation Overlord (Normandy).
Pte Parsons was killed in action on 20 June 1944, age 22, and was buried in Ranville War Cemetery, Calvados, France.
