Private Robert Barnes, son of John and Margaret Barnes, of Cleator Moor, Cumberland, served with 1st (Airborne) Battalion, Border Regiment. He took part in the Battle of Arnhem, during Op Market Garden.He died on 21 September 1944, aged 20 years old. He is now buried at Oosterbeek War Cemetery, Arnhem.
