Wilf Allen served in the 2nd Battalion, The South Staffordshire Regiment part of the 1st Air Landing Brigade within the 1st Airborne Division.He took part in the divisional assault to capture the Rhine Crossings at Arnhem during Operation Market Garden and was taken as a prisoner of war on day six of the battle.
He was held in captivity at Stalag IVD for the remainder of the war .
