Private Cyril Burrows, son of Arthur and Hannah Louisa Burrows, of Leicester.
Cyril joined from the Leicestershire Regiment and was successfully parachute jump trained at RAF Ringway on Course 61B/62. His jump instructor noted that Cyril was "Good show-asset to section. Above average".
He was then posted to A Company attachment to the Signals Platoon, HQ Company, 3rd Parachute Battalion. Archive records suggest he fought in the Italy campaign before taking part in the Battle of Arnhem, during Op. Market Garden.
Private Burrows died on 20 September 1944, aged 27 years old. He is now buried at grave ref: 20, A, 10. Oosterbeek War Cemetery, Arnhem.
