Private Charles Frederick Best, son of Francis Charlton Best and Athol Isabel Best, of Corbridge, Northumberland served with 1st Parachute Battalion and took part in Op Market Garden at Arnhem.He died on 28 September 1944 and was originally given a Field Burial in the grounds of St Elisabeth Hospital, Arnhem, alongside Zwarteweg where he lay alongside the temporary grave of The Reverand B J Benson. He was 24 years old.
