Laurence Frank Watson was born in Essex and lived in East London. He enlisted in the Royal Engineers, and volunteered for airborne forces.

Staff/Sergeant Watson successfully completed Glider Pilot training and was posted to D Squadron, The Glider Pilot Regiment, and took part in Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).

S/Sgt Watson was killed in action on 18 September 1944, aged 25, and is commemorated on the Groesbeek Memorial to the missing.
