William Scott Dove was the son of George and Janet Dove, of Blairgowrie, Perthshire. He enlisted in the Royal Artillery and volunteered for Airborne forces.

Bombardier Dove successfully completed glider training and was posted to 1 Airlanding Light Regiment, Royal Artillery, and took part in Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).

Bdr Dove died of wounds between 24/25 September 1944, aged 30, in the St Elisabeth Hospital. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Groesbeek Memorial to the missing.
