Bernard Howarth William Webb was the son of William John Henry and Bertha Webb; husband of Mary Agnes Webb, of Norbury, Surrey, he enlisted in the Royal Army Service Corps and volunteered for airborne forces.
Private Webb successfully completed parachute training in Italy and was posted to A Company, 2 Platoon, 5th Battalion the Parachute Regiment and took part in operations in Italy, Southern France and Greece.
Pte Webb was killed in action on 18 December 1944, aged 24, and was given a field burial in Athens Town and was re-interred to Phaleron War Cemetery on 16 January 1945.
