John A Tompkins joined 10 PARA in 1978, then enlisted into regulars in 1979. After completing basic training, he posted to 3 PARA in Tidworth.
Tours of Northern Ireland and Falklands 1982 (D Coy). Left in 1983.
John later rejoined in 1987 and served with 3 PARA until 2001. He later joined 4 Para in 2003 and served in Iraq and Afghanistan.
