Lieutenant Simon Gregory Bates from Dorset, served with B Company, 2 PARA.23 year old Lt Bates was accidentally shot dead whilst setting an ambush near Forkhill, early on New Year’s Day 1980.
Lt Bates is buried in Aldershot Military Cemetery.
