Private Gary Ivan Barnes served with 2 PARA in the 1970s

He died on 27 August 1979, aged just 18 years, as a result of the Warrenpoint bombing in Northern Ireland, in which 18 paratroopers were killed.

Pte Barnes is now buried in the Lawn Cemetery, Ipswich.
