Leslie McLeod enlisted into the 7th Battalion Cameroon Highlanders before volunteering for airborne forces.
Lance Corporal McLeod successfully completed his training at Ringway on course 26 from 6 to 12 September 1942 and was posted to the 1st Battalion, The Parachute Regiment.
He went with the battalion on Operation Torch in North Africa.
L/Cpl McLeod was killed in action on 28 March 1943, aged 21, at Djebel Abiod. Initially given a field burial, he was re-interred in Beja War Cemetery, Tunisia, on 13 August 1943.
