Laurence McGrath enlisted in the Cheshire Regiment and then volunteered for the airborne forces.Lance Corporal McGrath qualified as a military parachutist on course 21/22 in August 1942 at RAF Ringway and was then posted to the 1st Battalion, the Parachute Regiment and took part in Operation Torch in North Africa.
L/Cpl McGrath was Killed in Action on 29 March 1943, aged 21. He is commemorated on the Medjez-El-Bab memorial.
