Lance Corporal David Paterson McGhie, son of David and Christina McGhie, of Glasgow, served with 1st Parachute Battalion. He took part in the Battle of Arnhem, during Op Market Garden.He died on 22 September 1944, aged 25 years old. He is now buried at Oosterbeek War Cemetery, Arnhem.
