John Philip Hunter enlisted into The Parachute Regiment in Sheffield in July 1977.After Passing Out of P Company (Coy) with 441 Platoon in March 1978 Private Hunter was posted to The 3rd Battalion, The Parachute Regiment (3 PARA).
In 1978 and 1980 Pte Hunter went on tour to Northern Ireland on Operation Banner.
In 1982 Lance Corporal Hunter sailed to the Falkland Islands on the SS Canberra as part of Mortar Platoon, Support Coy, 3 PARA on Operation Corporate.
L/Cpl Hunter left the armed forces in November 1982 having served with B and Support Coy, 3 PARA in Northern Ireland, Germany, Canada and The Falkland Islands.
