After joining the army, Frank Peacock volunteered for airborne forces.
He took part in parachute training course 104 at RAF Ringway (Now Manchester Airport). The course lasted from 21st February - 2nd March 1944. It was noted that Frank was "Quiet but confident. Worked Hard. Good Performer." Upon successful completion of the course he was posted to 1 Troop, 4th Parachute Squadron, Royal Engineers. (4 Para Sqn RE)
Whilst serving with 4 Para Sqn RE, Sapper Peacock jumped into Arnhem on Operation Market Garden. He was wounded during the operation and was taken as a Prisoner of War until liberation.
