Reginald Shore was the son of Samuel and Elizabeth Shore, of Stoke-on-Trent. He enlisted into The Royal Army Service Corps and volunteered for airborne forces.

Driver Shore was posted to 253 (Airborne) Composite Company, RASC, and took part in Operation Market Garden (Arnhem).

Dvr Shore was killed, along with the seven other crew members, when Stirling EF-298 of 570 Squadron RAF, based at Harwell, was shot down by Flak and crashed in woods east of Panoramahoeve on 23 September 1944, aged 21.

According to CWGC his body was originally unidentified, but placed in a field grave near the crash site. He was finally identified in 1987 by a process of elimination as all other members of the crew had been identified. He was buried near the aircraft and was commemorated on the Groesbeek Memorial up to December 1987, when his grave was positively identified. He was re-interred to Arnhem Oosterbeek War Cemetery on 30 November 1945.
