Airborne Assault MuseumThomas Aitchison Hay enlisted into the Scots Guard.Private Hay volunteered for airborne forces and undertook Parachute Training course 138 which ran at RAF Ringway from 16 to 28 October 1944. The course reports states: ‘Pte Hay. Average performer. Cheerful, keen and confident.’ He was posted to Army Air Corps Infantry training Centre.
Pte Hay was later posted to The 12th (Yorkshire) Parachute Battalion.
In 1956 Squadron Quarter Master Sergeant (SQMS) Hay was serving in the Parachute Regiment Squadron (22 Special Air Service Regiment).
