Private Sidney Harbert, son of Harris and Rose Harbert, initially served with the Royal Artillery before he transferred to join Airborne Forces.Pte Harbert qualified after completing Parachute Course 88 at RAF Ringway in late October 1943. Sidney was posted to 13th (South Lancs) Parachute Battalion and took part in the D-Day landings to Normandy, during Op Overlord.
Private Harbert died on 8 June 1944, aged 27 years old. He is now buried at Ranville War Cemetery, Normandy.
