Pte David Alfred Allen enlisted for National Service in October 1953.After volunteering for airborne forces he completed his para training in January 1954 and was posted to a Medium Machine Gun Platoon in the 3rd Battalion, The Parachute Regiment.

He saw service in the Canal Zone and demobbed in October 1955.
