Albert John Chadd was born in Camberwell on 12 October 1926. He enlisted into the General Service Corps before volunteering of airborne forces.Sergeant Chadd served with No 1 Wing , The Glider Pilot Regiment, Army Air Corps.

He served in Palestine died on 18 May 1947 and is now buried in Ramleh War Cemetery.
