Private George Baldwin, son of Mr and Mrs J Baldwin, of Shotton Colliery, Co Durham, served with 12th (Yorkshire) Parachute Battalion. He took part in the D-Day landings to Normandy on 5-6 June 1944.Private Baldwin died on 6 June 1944, aged 31 years old. He is now commemorated on the Memorial near Bayeux War Cemetery, Normandy.
