David Victor White, more commonly known as a Chalkie, completed tours of service with Airborne Forces in the 1960s and early 1970s.Chalkie joined the Army in 1961, beginning a long association with the Duke of Edinburgh's Royal Regiment before joining Airborne Forces.
After completing P Company, he joined 10 Platoon, D Company, The 2nd Battalion, The Parachute Regiment (2 PARA) for the first of two spells with the Battalion in 1963. During his service he completed operational tours to Borneo in 1965, and Northern Ireland in 1970.
After a spell as a reservist he returned to the Duke of Edinburgh's Royal Regiment, with whom he went on to serve as a Sergeant, finally leaving in 1985.
Chalkie is still active in the Airborne Veterans community, and is pictured on Veterans Day at Chatham, 2007.
