John Graham Skirving Lees was the son of Thomas and Margaret Lees; and husband of Freda Lees, of Newbury, Berkshire.Lees was posted to 1st Airlanding Light Regiment while serving with the Royal Artillery during World War II.

He died as a result of an accident serving as a member of No 1 Battery during the Italian campaign.

Sgt Lees died on 7 October 1943, aged 28 years, and is buried at Bari War Cemetery, Italy.
