Aidan Gordon Forbes enlisted into The Parachute Regiment in November 1978.Private Forbes Passed Out with 454 Platoon on 16 August 1979 and was posted the 2nd Battalion, The Parachute Regiment (2 PARA).

Private Forbes left 2 PARA in May 1986 having seen active service on Operation Banner (Northern Ireland) and Operation Corporate (The Falklands).
