Private George Hand, son of Charles Bernard and Ethel Hand, served with 7th (Light Infantry) Parachute Battalion and took part in the D-Day landings to Normandy, during Op Overlord.Private Hand died on 18 June 1944, aged 24 years old. He is now commemorated on the Memorial at Bayeux War Cemetery, Normandy.
