Thomas Wilson, son of Thomas and Margaret Ellen Wilson, of Standish, Lancashire, enlisted in the Grenadier Guards and then volunteered for the airborne forces.Private Wilson qualified as a military parachutist on course 21/22 in August 1942 and was posted to the Mortar Platoon, the 1st Battalion, the Parachute Regiment and took part in Operation Torch.

Pte Wilson was Killed in Action on 10 March 1943, aged 26. He is commemorated on the Medjez-El-Bab memorial.
