Clifford George 'Mick' Morris initially served in the Royal Artillery, joining up in 1936 where he remained until 1944. During this time he saw service in India, Iraq, and Egypt, before finally volunteering for the Parachute Regiment in 1944.He became a Corporal in 6th (Royal Welch) Parachute Battalion and fought in Italy and Greece as part of 2nd Independent Parachute Brigade.

Eventually demobbed in 1946, he rejoined a Royal Artillery TA unit in 1947.
